Cellulite
Cellulite occurs in approximately 90% of all women and generally has a lumpy, bumpy "orange peel" or "cottage cheese" appearance. It is caused by fibrous bands that trap and hold down fat cells under the skin. As these fatty cells expand against the fibrous bands, the cells bulge and create cellulite.
This condition can be found in any woman, even if she is not overweight. Cellulite is often hereditary and can be caused by hormonal changes. Poor circulation, smoking and a diet that is high in fat can also contribute to the cause.
We proudly offer cellulite reduction at the Southwest Vein & Laser Institute, centrally located near Scottsdale, Cave Creek, and Arrowhead in Phoenix, Arizona. The condition can be treated with Collagenase Enzyme Therapy that causes the fibrous tissues to release the trapped skin cells and give the skin a smoother appearance. The procedure consists of a series of strategic injections to the affected areas.
Our Phoenix cellulite treatment is spread out over the course of several sessions to achieve the desired results. Although the results are not immediate, over time the injections will diminish the appearance of cellulite. Some patients like to return for an additional touch-up appointment to further smooth out their skin in the affected areas.
As with all of our procedures at the Southwest Vein & Laser Institute, we take every precaution to minimize your discomfort. Some patients may experience some post-injection swelling and bruising; this is completely normal and temporary.
